I’m not sure when this moment came exactly, and I did a whole post on the feeling, where I apologized in advance for kicking an already dead and beaten horse by using that phrase.

But Kare Kano was something I finally got around to in 2011, and it really threw me off my game: Life went on hold for a minute as I finished it with the speed that I used to get through anime I loved. You know, when you just can’t stop? I don’t have that luxury anymore most of the time, but I somehow found it (I was probably sick, actually) and that was two great feelings in one: First, the one described in the post, and second, the feeling of compulsion to finish an anime series. It’s been a while, and I wonder if it’s a coincidence that the series comes from around the time I first started doing that…
It’s a show to fall in love with, and fall in love along with.
Your story with Kare Kano wins all of them.
Is than an actual screenshot? It’d be amazing if it was.
Based on one I think, but vector traced and modified by an unknown artist.
My heart always skips a beat when I see anything related to Kare Kano. <3
Loved the concept of this, but it was way too hyper in its execution, even if the first half was brilliant (don’t mean to sound like everyone else). To say I was torn on this one is speaking lightly.
You may sound like everyone else but there’s a reason for that, and I can see where people are coming from. Personally, I liked it all — the first half is stronger and the last quarter is the weakest, yes, but averaging it out worked for me, because that strong first part really sucked me in.
Kare Kano is love
Wow, talk about a blast from the past…how long has it been since I watched this series? At the time, I appreciated its good points and accepted its flaws…which is what true love is about I guess. It really is a classic, and I’m glad you had the chance to watch it. Even when it’s not going how it should, the feeling of being swept along by a story – CARING about what happens to the characters in it – is a precious and awesome thing. Truly one of those “oh yeah…so that’s why I’m a fan…” moments.
For the record, one of my goals for 2012 is to pick up the rest of the manga volumes before the remaining stock disappears. I NEED to read it through to completion.
I am just not a reliable manga reader, I’ll start but unless I find huge sales I’m not very good about finishing. I’d like to check this one out because I wonder if Anno was really that far off that he had to be shitcanned.
