12 Moments in 2011: Toe-chan’s first HNNNG

This is a short and embarrassing one.

I’ve never felt a strong predilection for moe, the whole nutbladder thing evades me, and I often find myself baffled at the ships and waifus that float around the blogs, tweets, and boards. Now I’m not stupid or sterile: I watched Evangelion just like everyone else (Asuka, if you must know), I think mini-Squid Girl is wicked cute, and who doesn’t love some Minmay? But I’m not a massive Kana Hanazawa fan, and I’ve never doubled over in moe-overload until this moment:

My brain… it broke. My mouth opened slowly and my hand rose to cover it. A magical moment, or something. Now I don’t know what to do. I’m part of the cancer killing anime.

Or the abyss. It’s a large leap from Asuka to this.

I dropped this show, saw this video, and picked it right back up. I feel ya.

Pretty sure that it’s not the best anime I’ve seen, but I can watch that video anytime, anywhere. Well…maybe not in public.

Definitely not the best, but it has its thing going on. I like that it was clever enough to poke fun at its audience gently while catering to them at the same time.

I don’t think any less of you for that (but then, I haven’t watched the show itself).

Weirdly, I’m kinda glad you shared that. It’s…funny. Cute, after a fashion. Inoffensive…I dunno. Maybe if I HAD watched the show I might be able to judge you, but probably not. It put a smile on my face too, and I can’t put my finger on why.

basically the girl finds talking completely impossible due to overpowering shyness, but the disrespect of the protagonist, Keima, fills her with such rage that she feels compelled to call him “baka” and later, “aho”… but fails in this horribly adorable way.

It’s a harem story, basically, though more linear than the typical circular. And it’s a lot of fun. Charming, humorous, a protagonist that’s likable precisely because he’s so unlikable (and thus atypical)… I enjoyed it.
