12 days of animushmas, day one.

This show isn’t about what you think.

Part one in a 12-day Festivus celebration curated by CCY

I’d like to start off with a 12 days moment that’s a bit of a spoiler, although it’s for a show that not that many people seemed to want to watch (despite its gracious domestic release on YouTube and Crunchyroll). I’m starting to get hazy as to which episode it was, but it was probably the second. Don’t read on if you don’t want to know.

In Blassreiter’s first episode, awesome CGI motorcycle German Gerd Frenzen rides his way to victory over some evil-ish and equally CG Amalgams, and despite looking stupid and CG, establishes himself as quite the badass. Then he dies.

its like this and like XAT and like this, uh...

Yeah, about that...

And all of a sudden, Blassreiter’s premise and main characters aren’t quite who you thought they were. If that’s not a way to hook my eyes just a little, I don’t know what is. The series went on to feature serviceable action and incredibly bleak storyline, and it was in fact enjoyable. But I never would have gone on without that strange plot development.

I believe I mentioned 4 comments. These are they (them?)

I remember this, and it was intriguing. Though the show as a whole managed to lose my interest just before it took its turn for the apocalyptic, which is a shame – I’m not sure if it’s my fault or Blassreiter’s.

A bleak show with non-pedophilic character design. No complaints.

    Yay, captions return!
