September Decultural update
Dum ideas.

First the dumb: Even as the season’s shows draw near an end, at least those that are reliably subtitled, I’ve been fist-deep in some old bootlegs of Macross 7, not to mention Martin’s review prompted me to re-watch Zero, and that’s enough Macross to micronize your brain. So while in the throes of M7, my Charging Love Heart was touched by a brief bout of moe in the form of Sally S. Ford. And I realized that the true legacy of Macross is in this lesson: The only suitable staff for your ship is a trio of twentysomething hotties. Geass, Eureka 7, Gundam 00. They’re just a small part of the legacy. So I present to you my tribute, the official Yakk… Deculture! Bridge Bunny Trading Cards. Test audiences were predictably wowed especially by the original edition Shammie card, but even more predictably, Jesus159159159 coveted my Bobby Margot rookie card. -_-’

Cheers for the linkage. ^_^ it’s good to see my rambling got you into rewatching Zero too…I still have yet to even start M7. I guess the prospect of such a long series (when I need to watch the original, as nature itended this time) is a bit intimidating when we have a fresh season of new shows coming up.
I lol’d at the cards though (you included Bobby too! *laughs*). After all, if I were staring death in the face, I’d want a huge-ass Macross cannon and…a bridge run by twenty-something hotties.
“To think I wanted to study space engineering.”
Funny how that led to piracy and having a crush on a one-eyed fifty-year-old grizzled captain.
Martin - Always glad to link a good review of a good flick. Doesn’t hurt that your post coincided with the Japanese Blu-Ray release. Let’s all hope it happens here. And that Blu-Ray players come down in price. A lot.
Overall the original is still an awesome piece of work, one of the best in fact, but I’m really starting to enjoy Seven for what it is.
Korasoff – oh the women who have sacrificed their careers in the name of love and piracy. Either way you look at it, it’s all about the booty!
That’s pretty great. You should make one for the captains too. I mean, who wouldn’t want a deck with grizzly old men in it?
I demand a Bobby Margot centrefold.
Everything looks great!
I hate you cuz you’re better than me.
lbrevis – well, Monica would dig it, that’s for sure
Shin – as fun as that sounds, the whole “cruising for gay fanart” sounds somewhat less fun. But what price art?
Jason – The compliment, its flavor is sweet, although the hate leaves a bitter, bitter aftertaste. just the way you like it, I’m sure.
There was a compliment in there?
…
DAMMIT! I need an editor…
Ha!!!! Bobby! Tres awesome. Macross Frontier seems to have had the same effect on me, since I added the orignal to the netflix queue and have happily been viewing it.
Go Kawamori!
