Honestly, I think it’s a bit silly to be arguing semantics as much as we are. I only used the phrase because it really feels like rubbernecking.

I’ve become increasingly interested lately in the argument that everyone is taking it too seriously — because people keep saying that to me, but I can’t find anyone who does take it seriously. Geass is made of pure entertainment and you’re really missing out if you’re being frustrated by attempts to look too deeply at it.

I still say you can’t call it a “train wreck” if the conductors are intentionally setting pennies on the rail, getting lawn chairs, cracking open a bottle of beer or two, and cheering when the train hits the pennies and goes careening through the air in a magnificent arc and landing on someone’s pigeon coop.

I just ignore the many detractions that the show has; while the past few episodes have hinted at poor writing, Code Geass, to me, is still unadulterated entertainment at its best, delivering on the lolwut and facepalm week after week without fail.

Seriously, people need to stop arguing about whether or not this show is a trainwreck (it is)! Isn’t it enough that we all love this show whether or not we’re consciously making any effort to take the show seriously or not (I don’t)???

It’s not a train wreck, it’s not supposed to be serious. They care more about keeping you off guard than by thrilling you with good narrative. Now if you like that or not is a personal opinion…..

In serious words: Code Geass is the success that it is because one can still enjoy it whether your analyzing the situation critically… or just mindlessly enjoying the crash boom bang. (It’s just so much easier to be in the latter)

I think people are just making it out to be something that it’s not.

I suppose that’s possible. Most bloggers I read still seem to like it, though (Probably because it’s too hard not to). Personally I go into it every week with zero expectations of what it’s going to be about, because Geass is at its best when it blindsides you. Like it did really well this week.

Code Geass is anything but a train wreck. I think people are just making it out to be something that it’s not. It’s not a serious political military drama, it’s the combination of political military drama, high school comedy, harem, and supernatural epic. It’s not supposed to be serious it really is supposed to be fun.

But I think those last two episodes from season 1, which we waited two months to see, left the impression that Code Geass was a serious military drama. It’s not. But for what it is, it’s the best that has ever been made.
