I think that’s achieved by the creation of what basically amounts to a fantasy world, even though it resembles the real world.

Definitely, though how that relates to the modern vs historical issues raised is difficult. I guess these issues are the only way to understand the ending, which imo is not at all "right" but is consistent with a lot of the ideas. End of the day - slight disappointment, still very glad that I watched.

It's funny, I kinda feel the ending wasn't exactly right, yet I can't say "hey could've done it better" either :S

...and Kabitzin just hit two birds with one stone since that seems to be the problem with my spoiler tags as well!

and for sure, you're not the last in reviewing Kure-nai because I have yet to make mine (and blissmo has yet to watch the rest lol) I'm not quite satisfied with the ending as well, and knowing the difference in the original novel just makes that feeling worse. Still, I'm trying my best to see this show in a positive light, since it is undeniably a great adaptation. Things were wrapped up well, or rather too well, and that might be where my problem with the ending lies.

BTW I think your spoiler tags do not work and the code for the quicktags should be in brackets instead of less-than or greater-than signs. The current solution will work for admins, but not for regular viewers.

He’s had a demonic bone-sword installed in his arm by high school haremette Yuno’s assassin family to compensate for his weakness

Actually it's not demonic, and it was part of a Naruto cosplay outfit gone horribly wrong.

When I first saw the ending, I felt a little unsatisfied as well. I don't know that more time would have helped, but it felt odd watching Benika's group simply zerg the Kuhoins FTW. Still, I think the series did a great job with its length and after a little time to calm down I was satisfied with the ending.
