Cooking with Otou-san
I love to cook. Oh, boy, do I. Not much of a baker though. I can get the job done, but if you want your treats made with love then look elsewhere, sweetness, because mine are made with wall-punching and fuckwords.
However! In honor of Ranka’s inaugural attempt at baking, here’s my recipe for Moe Sugar cookies. Pardon me, my friends outside the U.S. and rural U.K., these are in English units.
Side note: Is it just me, or was Sheryl’s weekly hoe-bag outfit just a tauntingly slutty version of the overall-and-halter getup that you Ranka fans have probably been loving the past few weeks? She doesn’t play nice, that Sheryl.
Side note 2: I’m sure Lucky Star probably answered this question and I forgot, but is it more moe to cook or to fail at cooking? I’m gonna vote “fail at cooking.” But cooking doesn’t make me think of Moe, it makes me think of this:
I don’t even watch Macross F but I can feel Ranka’s pain in the recipe T_T I don’t know what’s wrong with this Alto ‘dude’/-hime/trap/whatever, but it should be obvious that he should pick the one who sings the better version of “What ’bout My Star” *hmph*

@ issa-sa: I’d be pleased if the writers decided to make the words of ‘My Boyfriend Is a Pilot’ literal, and had Alto rejecting female companionship altogether to spend more time with his plane.
I’m starting to think that Alto’s character was written to be the embodiment of that song.
“He’s head over heels for his plane, instead of me…”
At least Sheryl’s got that figured out. You’ve got to give her props for adapting when her “hopes and dreams” (that is, breasts) didn’t work on him.
Ok, you obviously have not experienced enough moe-bake-fail in your real life. The cookies are bitter because they are burnt or the baking soda was improperly sifted. If it was just the ronery tears, the cookies would be salty.
I’m not sure what baking soda has to do with bittern—HEY wait you’re just pooping on my post’s whole theme!
This makes me sad, and you know what, the tears… they are bitter.
Figuratively.
I have experienced bake-fail, but I don’t think anyone will ever accuse me of moe-anything.
Her inability(?) to cook came off as a surprise really. I figured that archetype Ranka is supposed to represent would at least have some culinary skills, like Tsukasa from Lucky Star. I guess they traded that ability with her singing prowess then.
@ Shin: Maybe she’s better in other facets of cookery, or maybe it’s because she’s new to the recipe. I myself can produce pretty good cakes (a particularly fine moist gingercake is a personal favourite) but I struggle with savoury dishes.
It’s also possible that her busy, budding-pop-star life makes doing regular anime girl stuff very difficult.
You know… why does Chiyo-chan use a frying pan to make cookies?
